Privacy Policy

Civilización is a turn-based strategy game. It is designed to collect as little data as possible: no ads, no tracking, and it never asks for your name or email.

1Who is responsible

The Civilización app and this policy are the responsibility of Jose Ventura. For any privacy question, email us at mxquiero@gmail.com.

2Offline games

Single-player games against the AI and Pass and play games (several people on one device) work without internet. Your saved game, settings (language, sound, vibration), scores and local player name are stored only on your device and are never sent to any server. Deleting the app deletes them; you can also clear them in Settings.

3Online mode

Online mode (1 vs 1 against other people) is optional and only used if you open it. It relies on two Google services: Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore (with Cloud Functions), hosted on Google servers in the United States. We store the minimum needed to play:

  • An anonymous identifier randomly generated by Firebase. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number or Apple ID.
  • Your player name, picked from a list of generated names (for example, “Brave King 482”). Free text is not allowed.
  • Your stats: Elo rating, wins, losses, draws and number of games.
  • Match data: both players (identifier and name), the chosen civilizations and rules, whose turn it is, timers, the result and a “snapshot” of the game state after each turn (only the last 3 are kept).
  • While you look for a rival, a matchmaking queue entry that expires within seconds.

Your rival sees your player name, your Elo and your moves in the game. A session token is stored on your device so you don't need a new account every time.

Like any internet service, Google's servers receive your device's IP address in order to respond and may keep technical logs for a limited time for security and operations. We don't use that data to identify you or for advertising. More information in Firebase privacy.

We process this data to provide the service you request when you play online.

4How long we keep it

  • Online matches are deleted automatically about 30 days after they finish.
  • Your matchmaking queue entry is deleted as soon as you stop searching (within a few minutes at most).
  • Your online profile (identifier, name and stats) is kept while you use online mode, until you delete it.

5How to delete your data

In the game: open Online, tap your profile (at the top) and choose “Delete my online data”. Your profile, name, stats, finished matches and anonymous account are deleted immediately. Matches in progress are forfeited (your rival wins) and deleted after 30 days like all others.

By email: write to mxquiero@gmail.com with your player name (and, if possible, the identifier shown on your online profile). We will delete it and confirm. You can also do this if you already deleted the app.

You can also contact us to access or correct your data or to object to its processing. If you think we haven't handled your request properly, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.

6In-app purchases

Premium themes are bought through Apple's in-app purchase system (App Store). Apple processes the payment: we never see your payment details or your Apple ID. The game only asks Apple which themes you own to unlock them and remembers it on your device. See Apple's privacy policy.

7What we don't do

  • No ads and no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't sell data.
  • We don't access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
  • Vibration (haptic feedback) uses the device motor and collects no data. You can turn it off in Settings.

8Children

Civilización is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Online mode asks for no name, email or contact details and only allows generated names. If you are a parent or guardian and want us to delete a child's online data, email mxquiero@gmail.com.

9Security

Communication with our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Each player can only read their own profile and the matches they play in, and only our server functions can write data.

10Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with its update date. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
